Sourina Bej

Sourina Bej is currently a Research Associate with the International Strategic and Security Studies Programme (ISSSP) at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore. In ISSSP, she is currently working on a DRDO-sponsored project, "Profiling Borderland Communities in Tawang". She is also working on a larger study - "Water Security and Climate Change in India" supported by Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Secutity Studies (BIPSS). 
 
Her research is focused on India's Northeast especially on water and development politics in the region. She studies the borderland identities, development and resource conflicts in the region, primarily in the Himalayan frontier. She has also worked on  'Religious Extremism in Bangladesh' and 'Political Transition in Nepal. 
 
Prior to joining ISSSP, she has been the correspondent-cum-copy editor at The Times of India, Chennai for the dailies' Nation and City pages. She has completed her Masters in International Studies from Stella Maris College, Chennai and holds a post-graduate diploma in print journalism from Asian College of Journalism, Chennai. She is a graduate in Political Science from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata
