Rwanda, Namibia among top ten countries on the Global Gender Gap report 

On 13 July, the World Economic Forum released its annual Global Gender Gap 2022 report which outlined that it would take 132 years for the world to reach full gender parity. From Africa, Rwanda and Namibia rank sixth and eighth respectively among the top ten countries with the least gender gap. Of the 146 countries ranked, Benin, Algeria, Mali, Chad, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo from Africa rank at 138, 140, 141, 142, and 144 respectively.  On the regional front, Sub-Saharan Africa has closed 68.7 per cent of the gender gap, followed by Middle East and North Africa which closed 63.4 per cent of the gap; the MENA has the second largest gender gap to close, only second to South Asia.
